Juan Seguin, the "Paul Revere of Texas"
Juan Seguin entered the Alamo in February of 1836, along with Bowie, Crockett and others. He was the last to leave, sent out to get help from Col. Fannin at Goliad. General Sam Houston sent Seguin and his band of vaqueros to warn settlers of the Mexican General Santa Ana. For this reason, Juan Seguin is called the "Paul Revere of Texas".
The small town of Walnut Springs changed their town's name to Seguin, to honor him. He visited the town named in his honor in, parading down the streets in his uniform. This statue which sits in Central Park, depicts Seguin wearing his military uniform, holding his saber.
