Red Rooster Cafe and Antique Shop...New Braunfels

If you ever travel to New Braunfels, I recommend that you head off to the west of the town circle and visit the Red Rooster Cafe and Antique Shop. It is a great place to look spend some time shopping and if you are hungry, the cafe has great food.

I remember the S&H Green stamps...when you shopped, the store would give you little green stamps along with your receipt. You pasted them in a book, and when you had several books filled, you would redeem your stamps for merchandise. The catalogue was kind of like a wish book of items you would like to have for your home. The Green Stamp books would get tattered and torn as you saved your stamps. I think we kept ours in a kitchen drawer filled with lots of other things, and it took a while to save enough stamps for our prize.

I have not visited the cafe for quite some time, but I do remember pleasant visits with friends and family at the cafe after we had shopped in the antique store. The sandwiches were excellent.

For those of you who do not live in Texas, here are some very Texas kind of wares....boots, of course (you can never have too many boots in Texas), rope, baskets, and in the very bottom of the frame, you can see part of a crocheted afghan, which is a blanket made from yarn.

Boots can get kind of fancy, here in Texas. Some folks wear  boots with their dress-up clothes, too.

If you enjoy browsing among lots of vintage items as well as true antiques, this is a great place to spend some time.
